Top 7 best alternatives to Copilot Notetaker
- Optimize your note-taking
- Explore innovative and GDPR-compliant solutions to enhance your productivity.
- Customizable tools to fit all your meeting needs.

Microsoft Copilot generates summaries of your Teams meetings. It's convenient when your entire organization already lives within Microsoft 365. If you're looking for an alternative, it's often for three reasons: the AI-generated summary isn't included in standard Teams and requires an additional paid license, it only works within Teams, and Microsoft remains a US company subject to the Cloud Act, even with data hosted in Europe.
This page compares Microsoft Copilot and Leexi on what really matters for a European team: where your data goes, who can access it, and what the tool actually covers. It is published by Leexi: Leexi therefore appears in the comparison, evaluated with the same criteria as Copilot, including where it falls short.
Choosing an alternative to Microsoft Copilot: hosting, AI training, scope
Before comparing features, three questions decide the choice.
- Where is your data hosted, and who can legally access it? A tool storing data in the US is subject to post-Schrems II transfer rules. An American vendor, even when hosting in Europe, remains subject to the Cloud Act: a US authority can request data access.
- Is the model trained on your conversations? A summary contains client, HR, or strategic data. Some tools use this to train their AI, others do not.
- Does the tool cover your actual meetings? Video calls, but also phone and in-person. Many tools limit themselves to video conferencing.

Microsoft Copilot: license required and scope limited to Teams
Copilot produces meeting summaries, recommended tasks, and transcripts directly within Microsoft Teams. Microsoft does not train its foundation models on your meetings and holds a full set of certifications (ISO 27001, ISO 42001, SOC 2).
Two points to note. The AI summary is not included in a standard Microsoft 365 or Teams subscription: a Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required, starting at €18.20 excl. VAT per user per month. And it works only within Teams, not on Zoom, Meet, or in-person.
Leexi: data hosted in Europe and AI not trained on your meetings
Leexi is an AI note-taking tool published in Belgium. The assistant joins your Teams, Meet, or Zoom meetings, also records your phone calls and in-person meetings, then drafts the summary: decisions, actions, deadlines, sending to CRM.
Your data is stored in Europe, with an option for hosting at Scaleway, a French provider. The language model processes your meetings without using them to train the AI, on all accounts. Leexi holds ISO 27001, provides a DPA and a list of subcontractors, and encrypts data in transit and at rest.
Where Leexi falls short: by default, part of the infrastructure relies on American subcontractors (AWS, Azure), and only the Scaleway option removes this exposure. Leexi is not SecNumCloud qualified. Ten thousand companies use it in Europe.

Microsoft Copilot or Leexi: all-Teams or multi-platform
- Your entire organization is on Teams and you accept a per-user license: Copilot makes sense.
- You use Zoom, Meet, or in-person meetings: Leexi covers these, Copilot does not.
- You want a meeting summary in French available today: Leexi.
- You want a European vendor and a summary included without extra license: Leexi.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the meeting summary included in my Microsoft 365 subscription?
No. A Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required, starting at €18.20 excl. VAT per user per month, in addition to the existing subscription. This is the first cost difference with Leexi, whose Starter offer starts at $12 per user per month.
Does Copilot work on Zoom, Google Meet, or in-person?
No. Copilot works only within the Teams ecosystem. An organization that hosts clients on Zoom or Meet, or holds in-room meetings, keeps those meetings without summaries. Leexi covers Teams, Meet, Zoom, phone, and in-person.
Is French fully supported by Copilot?
French is in preview for meeting summary features. A preview does not offer the same service guarantees as a generally available feature. Leexi offers a French interface and multilingual transcription.
Does Copilot populate my CRM after a meeting?
Not natively. Integration with Salesforce, HubSpot, or Pipedrive requires connectors. Leexi directly updates HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, and Microsoft Dynamics, linking the summary to the correct contact and opportunity.
Does Microsoft train its models on my Teams meetings?
No, Microsoft does not train its foundation models on your meetings, and European customer data falls under the EU Data Boundary. Microsoft holds ISO 27001, ISO 42001, and SOC 2. On compliance foundations, the gap with Leexi is small: it's the functional scope that differentiates.
